Spectacle World, the first company in South Africa to obtain a certificate in The Art of Eyewear Styling from the Eyewear Styling Academy, is disrupting the local eyewear industry with the introduction of their uniqueME range of affordable eyewear.

Says Adele Camarena, owner and director at Spectacle World. “The Covid pandemic played a huge role in the increased demand for new aesthetics and silhouettes in eyewear. There is a definite trend towards individuality and ‘dopamine dressing’ to elevate our moods.

Bright colours and optimistic prints have made a huge comeback, and are thought to give our brains a happiness hit. This trend has also translated into eyewear. She explains that since establishing their exclusive styling consultation process, they have found that there is a huge gap in the market for distinctive eyewear. “As part of our styling process, we identify six different style personalities and matching eyewear styles for each, analyse the client’s dominant colour type, do a facial and feature analysis, and discuss colour and frame designs. With the uniqueME range, we can suggest whatever style would work perfectly, along with our existing ranges such as David Green, Versace, Michael Kors, Oakley, Woow, Etnia, Ronit Furst, and more.”

The new range includes the maximalist ‘70s, revised and updated classic and aviator styles, trendy clear, translucent and colourful frames, playful animal prints, modern steel frames, bold coloured frames in every colour from bright yellow to daring purple, as well as updated vintage-inspired cat eyes.
